There are a variety of Volunteer opportunities here at Benjamin's House. We have opportunities ranging from individual, one-time tasks to large group and on-going work as well. 

Room Sponsorships
We have 19 residents rooms. Sponsors help to furnish them with bed, dresser, rug, chair, lamp, curtains, bedside table, bedding, hangars, fan, alarm clock, laundry baskets, and shower caddy. 

Direct Service Volunteers
  • Meal volunteers - stay and serve, drop-off, or sponsor a meal.
  • Drivers for resident appointments - background checks, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance is required
  • Kindness Crews - groups of individuals willing to assist with transporting and moving items for residents moving into permanent housing
  • Starbucks/Kwik Trip Drivers - Volunteers who pick up food rescue items from area Kwik Trips every Monday and Thursday.
  • Walmart Drivers - Volunteers who pick up food and non-food items from Rice Lake Walmart every Friday.

Building and Grounds Volunteers
  • Mowing and trimming on the property
  • Seasonal lawn clean-up
  • Gardening and care of outdoor flowers
  • Shoveling and de-icing sidewalks

Handyman Work​
  • Painting
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Heavy Duty Cleaning
  • Storage Room Cleaning

Clerical
  • Assist with Annual Appeal Mailings

Fundraising Events and Donation Drives​
  • Volunteer at a Benjamin's House fundraising event (Street Eats, Winterfest, etc.)
  • Initiate a fundraising event within your organization that will benefit Benjamin's House
  • Initiate a donation drive for canned goods, cleaning supplies, paper goods, personal items, and bedding for use at the shelter

Community Service
  • Supervise and work with programs that require community service such as schools, service organizations, and employer-based service.
  • Court-ordered community service is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Individuals must apply and a background check will be reviewed.
