I am honored to share an inspiring success story that reflects the profound impact our community, area resources, and staff at Benjamin's House has on others. This story exemplifies the strength of perseverance and the critical role of community support in transforming lives. Your contributions give individuals like Nicole the hope, stability, and opportunity to rebuild their lives.
Nicole's Journey: A Path of Perseverance and Community Support Nicole came to Benjamin’s House after facing significant challenges, complicating her efforts to secure employment and stable housing. Upon her arrival, Nicole was determined to turn her life around, but the road ahead was not easy. The weight of her history posed barriers to finding both housing and employment, as many landlords and employers were hesitant to look past her past mistakes. However, Nicole was committed to building a better future for herself and her family, and she worked closely with her case manager and support programs to overcome these challenges.
Through perseverance and the support of the staff at Benjamin’s House, Nicole made remarkable progress. She secured employment, obtained financial coaching, and navigated the complexities of housing applications, all while reconnecting with her children and rebuilding her family relationships. My heart still filled with joy seeing her sitting at the picnic table having a conversation she thought not possible again. With the help of our team, Nicole secured stable housing, and she left Benjamin’s House with renewed hope and a sense of stability as she embarked on this new chapter of her life.
We are deeply honored to have been part of Nicole’s journey. Her determination and resilience are an inspiration, and her story is a powerful reminder of the impact that our community has on individuals.
Best, Jenifer
When you would pass any worker in the hall, they would ask how things were going or tell you how far you have come.
From Hardship to Stability – A Story of Resilience & Hope | A letter from Nicole: The Benjamin's House saved me in so many ways by believing in me, being my cheerleaders, and by just giving a felon straight out of prison a chance.
I had nowhere to go besides a park, and a day before I got released, I found out that Benjamin's House would accept me. I had hope again, and the feeling of giving up and going back to my old ways was not an option for me.
When I got there on 6/11/2024, Amanda was so helpful, getting me set up and checked in where I felt like a human being and not a big mess up. No one here made me feel bad about where I came from and why I was there. If I ever fell down, the doors were always open, besides one, but that has changed.
I had gotten a job two weeks after I was out, got my occupational license while I was there, started seeing my kids again, and started finding out who the real, sober, free Nikki was. I had gotten compliments from everyone here, from my probation agent, about how good I was doing. I was only at the Benjamin's House for one and a half months, and then they let me go to the lower Guest House. I was only there a few weeks, and I got my own place, and the Benjamin's House is still there for me if I need anything.

Thank you, Heidi, Dominic, Amy, Amanda, Diane, and Jen, for everything you guys have done for me. Even if it was just a few words of encouragement, it meant a lot, so thank you. If it wasn't for the Benjamin's House, I don't know where I would be today. I do know I wouldn't be as far ahead as I am today. Thank you, Nicole
